German Citizenship Test
The test every applicant for German citizenship must pass, from the official catalogue of 300 questions published by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF, May 2025 edition). The real test puts 33 of them to you — 30 from this catalogue and 3 about your own federal state — in 60 minutes, and you pass with 17 correct. Here all 33 are drawn at random from the 300 federal questions, since a website has no state to ask about, with the same time limit and pass mark. You can take it in the original German or in our English translation; the pictures are the catalogue's own.
The questions cover the constitution and basic rights, how the federal state and its elections work, the courts, German history from the Weimar Republic to reunification, the European Union, and everyday life in Germany. Applicants prepare for it and about nine in ten pass. Your result shows whether you passed and where your score falls among everyone who has taken it here.
Time limit: 60:00

Two optional questions, asked once: your age and sex let the results be broken down by who took the test.
Sex as at birth; gender as you identify. Languages you grew up speaking; several are fine, separated by commas. Leave blank anything you would rather not say.
